NQ Job Hunting Tips

Given that many firms’ trainee retention rates are down, and new positions for newly qualified solicitors have been squeezed, there will be mixed emotions for many trainee solicitors upon qualification.

Finally qualifying as a solicitor after years of hard work at university, law school and during the training contract is something to be immensely proud of and to celebrate.  Unfortunately, for some, celebrations will be muted because they have not been offered a newly qualified position with the firm they trained with.

Many will therefore have to turn to a competitive job market in search of a position with another firm or legal organisation.

In this section we give you some useful pointers if you find yourself qualifying without a job offer.  It will also help those who have some PQE but who are looking to make their first job move.
